ArcIMS Technology
Implementing ArcIMS technology allowed us to give internal
users the ability of viewing the various types of data they need
to collect in their daily jobs. With the information at
their fingertips, there is no more travel time to other offices,
standing in line or copying cost. Users are more efficient
and best of all, there is not a cost for this service.
Public Access
While implementing the ArcIMS technology for internal users it
was apparent that the public could also benefit. We post
public information on our web servers that also saves any person
or business the cost and travel associated with going to the
specific offices for information. We have had very positive
feedback from the public for making these services available.
Behind the scenes
We host and manage our own web servers. Doing so allows
us to maximize our investment into GIS. We are able to
custom code the many different sites we have to make them interact
with the public in different ways. One site may interact
with a database miles away and others very simple. By us
controlling it all, we are able to provide functionality and a
level of support unprecedented in our area.
